Located only 3 hours from D.C. at the intersection of Interstates 81 and 64, the Rockbridge Area provides the perfect balance of outdoor recreation and easy accessibility. With over 58,000 acres of National Forest and over 20,000 acres of state-managed land, the Rockbridge Area offers numerous outdoor recreational activities. Enjoy kayaking through Goshen Pass, bicycling along the TransAmerica Bicycle Trail, and hiking the Appalachian Trail. Or, take it easy with a stroll through Rockbridge Vineyard and Lexington Valley Vineyard, a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a memorable visit to the Natural Bridge of Virginia and the Virginia Safari Park. Smallmouth bass, channel cat and bluegill are found in the Maury River and largemouth bass and flat-head catfish are found in the James River.
